Art Therapy

Making bridges between the Image and the Self

Alongside her work as a respected local artist, Jo is a qualified, practising counsellor, with an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a certificate in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), a Diploma in Art Therapy Skills, and a certificate in Person-Centred Art Therapy skills. Jo offers counselling with person-centred art therapy skills. She believes passionately in the power of healing through art and that images can speak louder than words. This more creative approach to therapy is gentle, non invasive and does not require any artistic skill. Art therapy focuses on the creative process, the purpose being to enable clients to safely share difficult and sometimes painful emotions. Deeper self-awareness, growth and understanding can be achieved through the creation of spontaneous and intuitive images, which are then explored within a trusting and supportive relationship.
Art therapy can help with many issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, bereavement and loss, but can be adapted to most concerns. Jo adheres to the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) code of ethics, and is a member of PCATA (Person-Centred Art Therapy Association). If you'd like more information about one to one sessions, please contact Jo on 07732 533999 for a confidential discussion.
